correspondiente?

QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED
The following result: 98 mg %, was obtained when an analyte concentration, on a single sample of
a patient, was determined.
a patient, was determined.
This result was obtained using an analytical method with the following performance characteristics:
CVA% = 3.2% (including changes in: calibration, lots of reagents and equipment maintenance)
Deviation (Bias) = -2.9 % (deviation regarding the method used to determine the reference range)
Assuming that the biological intraindividual variability (CVI %) for that analyte, in normal
patients, is 5.7%, a number of questions arise:
patients, is 5.7%, a number of questions arise:
1 – Has the sample of the patient 98 mg % or the laboratory had obtained a result
of 98 mg %?
of 98 mg %?
2-What other results, with the method used, could be obtained from this sample if one
result of 98mg % was achieved?
result of 98mg % was achieved?
3-Which would be the concentration of the sample of the patient, for the reference
method, if the result was 98 mg %?
method, if the result was 98 mg %?
4-Which one would be the range of concentrations in which the analyte is usually
in the patient if the result was 98mg%?
in the patient if the result was 98mg%?
5-When could we assure that the patient has undergone a significant change
in the homeostatic condition of the analyte, if a result of 98 mg % was obtained.
6-What other results could have been obtained for the patient if 98% mg was obtained,
when considering that an outpatient can select the laboratory and the day for the
withdrawal of the sample for the analysis?
